Precision Navigation and Timing (PNT) Engineer/Physicist

Key Role:

Serve as a strategic consultant for high-risk government research and development programs related to precision navigation and timing. Work with world-class scientists and engineers in driving forward research to develop new applications for novel technologies and transition cutting-edge science and engineering for new and existing applications to programs of record. Apply Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) knowledge and expertise in the exploration of new technology concepts and the identification of knowledge gaps in need of investment, and assist with monitoring and managing program progress for performance, risks, and issues. Produce and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients, assist with technical program management and program development, and brief materials out for government research and development (R&D) efforts.


Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences

-Experience with science and technology program management

-Experience with research in navigation

-Knowledge of currently deployed and future naval PNT technologies, including inertial navigation and Global Positioning System (GPS)-based timing and navigation

-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

-Ability to commute to Arlington, VA

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree in Engineering or Physics


Additional Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with postdoctoral or industry research

-Experience with defense research and development

-Experience with naval sea-, subsurface-, and aviation- operations and PNT requirements

-Knowledge of Program of Record requirements and Future Naval Capabilities (FNC) requirements

-Knowledge of multiple physics disciplines, including atomic and quantum-based sensor technologies, especially as relevant to future PNT capabilities

-Knowledge of precision timekeeping and dissemination

-Possession of excellent client service skills

-Active Secret clearance, preferred
