Psychological/Mental Health Technician

Key Role:
Assist with the management and treatment of outpatient behavioral health activities. Provide a wide range of behavioral health interventions from prevention to treatment to individuals under the supervision of a licensed psychiatrist, social worker, psychiatric nurse, or psychologist who assigns work by defining objectives, priorities, deadlines, and guidance on assignments that do not have clear precedents. Conduct intakes, assist with the care and treatment of psychiatric, drug, and alcohol patients, and counsel clients and patients with personal, behavioral, or psychological problems under the supervision of a credentialed provider. Accomplish work on a substantially independent basis, perform a full range of standard and nonstandard work assignments, and resolve a variety of non–recurring problems on own initiative. Use judgment in locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines for application to the work situation at hand. Observe patients to detect behavior patterns and report observations to licensed behavioral health staff. Lead prescribed individual or group therapy sessions as part of specific therapeutic procedures under the guidance of a licensed mental health professional and complete initial intake interviews and required forms for new patients on behalf of the licensed mental health provider.

Basic Qualifications:
-3+ years of experience as a psychological technician
-Experience with intervening to restrain violent, potentially violent, or suicidal patients by oral or physical means
-Secret clearance
-AA or AS degree or 4+ years of experience with training as a psychiatric technician or mental health program assistant in the military

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
