Public Affairs Communications Consultant, Senior

Key Role:

Apply expertise in the roles, responsibilities, and policies of a DoD public affairs professional to educate and inform the public on military activities, operations, and investments. Create, design, and write complex publications and informational materials for internal or external audiences. Support identification and evaluation and make recommendations on how to respond to misinformation, disinformation, and propaganda that affects the Combatant Command client's ability to conduct its public affairs role supporting exercises and operations. Research and contribute to the development of written and visual information content in specific regions or countries. Synchronize and coordinate the release of public information.

Basic Qualifications:

-8+ years of experience with working in the DoD as military, civilian, or contractor in a Joint or combined HQ, major command, or higher headquarters

-5+ years of experience with DoD public affairs, including providing public affairs advice to senior leaders on operational issues, conducting media operations, or communication planning or implementation

-4+ years of experience with using a spectrum of social media tools and tactics

-3+ years of experience with consulting, including knowledge management, communications, and process improvement initiatives in a DoD or US government environment

-Ability to communicate with senior leadership effectively

-Ability to travel up to 25% of the time required

-Active Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree in Business, Communication, Public Relations, or International Relations

-Public Affairs Qualification

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with the internal operations of US missions abroad

-Experience with analysis or assessments, including information or media operations

-Knowledge of past and current geopolitical issues in the client's area of responsibility

-Knowledge of a foreign language

-Ability to multi-task competing priorities, deliver under pressure, and pay strict attention to detail

-Ability to be a highly flexible self-starter capable of operating in a high-tempo environment under less than ideal time-management conditions

-Possession of excellent research, organizational, interpersonal, effective relationship building, analysis, and data gathering skills

-TS/SCI clearance preferred

-MA degree in International Affairs, Communications, Public Affairs, or related field preferred

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
