Quantum Modeling Scientist

Key Role:

Provide Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to the Government Program Manager (PM). Provide technical support and expertise in the area of quantum information science, specifically toward advancing the modeling of quantum gates, qubits, and circuits. Assimilate and integrate technical inputs from performers and analyze performers' technical deliverables and reports. Conduct technical writing and develop and refine briefing materials and other program documentation using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Conduct independent review and summary of related technical literature and emerging technologies and participate in conferences and workshops related to program technical areas. Develop and document testing methodologies and protocols, ensuring they align with program technology components and assess performer results against program metrics. Coordinate, align, and schedule technology development tasks across multiple performers and perform continuous analysis of technical progress in comparison to planned cost and schedule.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with quantum information research, including experiment or theory, particularly in quantum computing research

-2+ years of experience with physics–based modelling of quantum gates, qubits, or circuits

-Knowledge of quantum control and quantum error correction

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with trapped–ion or superconducting experiments, preferred

-Knowledge of statistical methods for modeling quantum systems preferred

-Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment

-Ability to write concisely

-Ability to accurately convey technical and scientific issues to people with varying levels of expertise

-Possession of excellent persuasive oral and written communication skills

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph preferred

-PhD degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a quantum–related field
