Remote Sensing Scientist, Senior

Key Role:

Work as a scientist in a fast–paced research and development team on EO/IR imagery systems with image and video collection characterization and exploitation problems. Apply remote sensing principles and methods to analyze data and solve problems, including developing new sensor systems and developing analytical techniques or new applications for existing systems. Provide scientific analysis and products collected from the exploitation of EO/IR and remote sensing data. Support informational briefings for educating analysts and managers on the capabilities of image data and their potential application. Design collection experiments and compare measured results with modeled data. Work on projects that may include writing scientific codes for clutter and noise mitigation, image reconstruction, compressive sensing, tracking, detection, feature extraction, and classification, stereo and machine learning, signal processing, and radiometric calculations. Find unique exploitation techniques and brief customers.

Basic Qualifications:

-10+ years of experience with sensor systems, including airborne, space–borne, or commercial systems, operations, and phenomenology and their impact on image processing, analysis, and exploitation

-Knowledge of COTS or GOTS image processing and computer vision software, including MATLAB

-Knowledge of remote sensing technology and collection parameters

-Knowledge of basic scientific expertise for focal plane array technology, including quantum efficiency, cross talk, and flux density

-Ability to work in a non–process driven, fast R&D environment, adapt to constant change in tasking from technical government officials and senior executives, and deliver technical products with operational impact

-Ability to work independently with a small team of scientists and engineers in operations

-Ability to come up with new ideas and run with them as agreed by government officials

-Active TS/SCI clearance

-BS degree required

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with IDL programming preferred

-MS degree in Image Science, Remote Sensing, or Physics preferred
