Robotics Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Serve as a multi-disciplinary engineer on a robotics team conducting research, development, and technical assistance in support of a DoD client. Perform activities, including algorithm or software development, mechatronics, and flying and operating small, under 50lb UAVs. Leverage extensive knowledge of multiple operating systems and programming languages, robotics-related algorithms, and robotics related hardware, including sensors, power systems, and propulsion or locomotion. Interact directly with clients to identify problems, generate solutions, and communicate results.


Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience in the research and development of small, under 100lb mobile robotic systems

-2+ years of experience in programming with C++, Python, and CUDA on Linux and Windows operating systems

-Experience with operating and developing code for embedded computers or singleboard computers

-Experience with developing and implementing robotics algorithms, including sensing or perception, path planning, and obstacle avoidance for small, under 50lb UAVs

-Experience in working with basic electronic principles for communications, including serial, I2C, and SPI and power, such as power requirements, distribution, and safety in robotic platforms

-Experience with robotics modeling and simulation

-Knowledge of the general state of the art in robotic systems

-Ability to interact directly with clients to identify problems, analyze data, generate solutions, and communicate results

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS), including using existing packages and creating custom packages

-Experience with robotics modeling and simulation

-Experience with using, configuring, and modifying PX4 autopilot firmware

-Experience with modeling and simulation through Gazebo

-Experience in developing cooperative or swarming robot behaviors

-Experience with version control software, including git or svn

-Experience in electrical circuit and PCB design

-Experience with developing software and architectures for secure data links or communications

-Ability to safely and comfortably operate and fly small, under 100lb UAVs

-PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related major
