Robotics Software Engineer

Key Role:

Serve as a software developer on a robotics team conducting research, development, and technical assistance in support of a current DoD client. Perform activities ranging from algorithm development to architecture design and software implementation. Leverage extensive knowledge of multiple operating systems, multiple programming languages, and robotics-related algorithms. Work under general to little supervision. Interact directly with clients to identify problems, generate solutions, and communicate results.


Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience in the research and development of small <100lb mobile robotic systems

-2+ years of experience in programming with C++ on Linux and Windows operating systems

-2+ years of experience with Robot Operating System (ROS), including using existing packages and creating custom packages

-2+ years of experience with developing machine-vision software with OpenCV

-Experience with laser-based SLAM and 3D reconstruction using Iterative Closest Point (ICP) methodologies

-Experience in working with point clouds, specifically w.r.t. converting between PCL and .las or.lasz formats

-Experience with operating and developing code for embedded computers or singleboard computers

-Knowledge of UDP protocol, including sending and receiving raw byte packets

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with using, configuring, and modifying Ardupilot

-Experience with photogrammetry-based SLAM and 3D reconstruction

-Experience with version control software such as git or svn

-Experience in electrical circuit and PCB design

-Experience in operating or flying small <50lb UAVs, or Certified UAV operator

-Ability to interact directly with clients to identify problems, analyze data, generate solutions, and communicate results

-PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related major
