Satellite Communications Engineer

Key Role:

Provide communications-related systems engineering support, including space, aerial, and terrestrial to resolve critical technical issues for the DoD community. Work independently or as part of a team to organize and execute technical working groups and tiger teams to analyze, evaluate, and resolve issues. Participate in communications architecture and roadmap planning, study, and assess alternatives. Participate in department-wide analysis of alternatives (AoAs) by engaging in technical working groups. Assist with the planning and execution of studies and analysis efforts, as directed by the client. Participate in DoD communications-related meetings and forums, including space, aerial, and terrestrial, as directed.


Basic Qualifications:

-Experience in communications and military and commercial satellite design and architecture

-Experience with analyzing large data sets to identify potential trends and gaps and to evaluate and forecast next generation communications capabilities

-Experience with MILSATCOM and networking and working relationships across the DoD SATCOM community

-Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to conduct analysis, develop point or issue papers, and articulate findings and recommendations to the client and across the DoD community

-Ability to provide detailed and thoughtful recommendations to the client

-Ability to independently meet with and brief senior DoD officers and work closely across multiple DoD agencies and services

-Ability to plan, organize, and lead working groups and tiger teams

-Active Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in MILSATCOM relating to legacy and next generation Narrowband SATCOM capabilities, including UHF Follow-On (UFO) and Mobile User Objective System (MUOS)

-Experience in network and terminal transition strategy and implementation across the COCOMs and services

-Experience in COMSATCOM relating to legacy and next generation capability

-Knowledge of INMARSAT and Iridium or Iridium NEXT capability offering

-Knowledge of Integrated Waveform (IW) and Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) capability fielding

-Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Active TS/SCI clearance preferred

-BS degree in Engineering or a technical field preferred; MA or MS degree in EE, Aerospace Engineering, or Systems Engineering a plus


Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
