Senior Engineering Technician

Key Role:

Perform complex and unique assignments that require application of basic and advanced principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, mechanical engineering, electronic and electrical testing and physics. Assist in the development of engineering designs, development and construction of major units, devices, and equipment. Develop new test procedures and measurement techniques and define standards. Conduct tests and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary designs. Train and oversee the work of junior level technicians and work side by side with project engineers and managers to help resolve complex programmatic issues related to cost, schedule, and performance.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience in a senior engineering technician role supporting the design, fabrication, and installation of equipment on-board Naval aviation platforms

-Knowledge of various communications standards and interfaces including MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, RS-422, and Ethernet

-Knowledge of the NAVAIR Systems Engineering and Technical Review (SETR) and the requirements to support projects through the systems engineering life cycle

-Ability to work independently or as part of a larger interdisciplinary team

-Ability to read and modify complex engineering drawings to ensure compliance with design standards

-Secret clearance

-HS diploma or GED

-US Navy "C" School Certification

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience as a team lead overseeing the work of junior engineers and technicians contributing to the design, development, and integration of complex systems

-Knowledge of airborne sensor systems and communications systems installed on major airborne weapons systems

-Ability to develop test and evaluation plans and assist in the execution of test processes and procedures

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-AA or AS degree in Engineering Technology a plus
