Sensor Engineer

Key Role:

Provide professional services to a fast-moving, high-risk government research and development client serving as an expert in the principles and application of electrical engineering towards development of occupancy sensor technologies. Work with world-class scientists in driving forward research efforts in a broad base of energy-related research and development areas. Complete studies and various requests for scientific and engineering assistance in the fields of human presence sensing and people counting sensors, CO2 sensors, and associated verification and validation test plan development. Work directly with program directors, in a team, including a focus on moving high risk, high reward technologies to market. Provide technical and strategic assessments of new technologies, learn about adjacent technical areas quickly and synthesize information in support of senior decision-makers. Conduct background research and outreach for evaluating the feasibility and the commercial applications of new technological concepts. Be the lead assisting with technical program management, program development, and briefing materials for specific agency R&D programs. This position is located in Washington, DC.



Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences

-5+ years of experience with relevant postdoctoral or industry research; and/or consulting

-2+ years of experience in a leadership position with research related to electronics integration

-Experience with use of machine learning, as applied to sensor data

-Experience with RADAR, RFID, and similar systems

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in a consulting environment a plus

-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

-Ability to exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and work in a collaborative team environment

-Ability to be a proactive problem solver and work independently

-Possession of excellent client service skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills

-Possession of excellent organizational skills

-Possession of excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively

-PhD degree in EE, Physics, or related is preferred
