Software Engineer, Senior

Key Role:
Develop and sustain software for a suite of Air Force models used in Air Force and Joint Battle Staff training, including the Air Force Modeling and Simulation Training Toolkit (AFMSTT) as a member of an integrated contractor team. Evaluate and perform design tradeoffs regarding architecture and software components, including requirements analysis, software code analysis, peer reviews, identification of software metrics, system risk analysis, and software reliability analysis. Interface with the lead integration engineer regarding integrating software components, deriving system-level requirements into software requirements, identifying, documenting, and repairing software defects, and designing, coding, and debugging applications in various software languages. Apply software engineering standards and assist the engineering team with software system or subsystem development and documentation efforts. Comprehend and adhere to project schedules and remain within established budgets.
 

Basic Qualifications:
-9 years of experience with software engineering
-Experience with full life cycle software development processes
-Experience with developing software in a team environment 
-Experience with industry software development standards and the capabilities of equivalent DoD software systems
-Experience with software engineering in HLA federations, including developing interfaces for military C4I systems and other training simulations
-Experience with software development, including using Ada, Java, C++, C#, Perl, XML, UML, HLA, DIS, Git, Linux, and Windows
-Experience with Linux or Windows shell scripting
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
-BA or BS degree in EE, CS, IT, Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering
 

Additional Qualifications:
-2+ years of experience with supporting military training events or exercises using simulation-based training systems 
-Experience with Agile development, thin client applications, database design, and secure systems
-Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, including AngularJS, NodeJS, or JMS
-Experience with message-oriented middleware
-Experience with leading software teams in the production of complex component-based systems
-Active Secret clearance
-MA or MS degree preferred
