Software Engineer

Key Role:

Act as software engineering subject matter expert and support software development life cycle processes for PM Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). Apply experience with all phases of the software development life cycle from definition and design, through implementation and testing. Plan and conduct major technical phases of significant projects by coordinating the efforts of technical support staff and the performance of assigned projects, review completion and implementation of technical products, and evaluate vendors capabilities. Work with little supervision and provide management oversight and technical expertise for software development and sustainment of UAS systems, subsystems, and components. Manage cost, schedule, and performance of contractor developed software baselines and modifications, monitor problem change requests, and assign priorities for resolution. Plan, coordinate, and execute changes to address interoperability issues and author performance work statements for competitive software development task orders. Evaluate software architecture, development, and modification approaches of UAS and make recommendations to technical chief regarding the best technical approach to support P3I and sustainment. Communicate directly with contractors, engineers, a logistician, program managers, and business team members to provide coordinated direction and tasking. Provide concise reports to management on status, potential issues and risks, participate in the development of contingency plans, and perform other related technical tasks as they are assigned by technical chief or product lead.

Basic Qualifications:

-15+ years of experience with the contribution to and management of software technical requirements

-15+ years of experience with embedded systems software development

-15 years of experience in technical field with at least 7 years of those years of experience with engineering, science, or other field relevant to the support area

-Experience with developing software plans, processes, and instructions

-Experience with developing software engineering plans

-Experience with evaluating, revising, and composing software requirements

-Experience with evaluating, revising, and composing software technical documentation

-Experience with developing and presenting reports to senior management

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree in Engineering, CS, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business, or other related scientific, technical, or professional discipline

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Army aviation preferred

-Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook

-Experience with Unmanned Aircraft preferred

-Experience with a Program Management Office preferred

-Experience with the acquisition life cycle preferred

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

Clearance:
