Strategic Communications Specialist, Junior

Key Role:

Serve as a writer as part of a team of strategic communications consultants for a DoD organization, including providing effective and compelling writing to build a robust strategic communications program. Work as part of a team of strategic communicators to assist a DoD organization by analyzing the development and execution of and coordinating a strategic communications plan to familiarize internal and external parties with the capabilities of the organization. Work with senior government officials to translate ideas and concepts into professional communications products under tight deadlines, including talking points, PowerPoint presentations, articles, e-mails to the workforce, and other communications products, as needed. Coordinate and support meetings and briefings through the development of materials both in advance and as follow-up to those events.

Basic Qualifications:

-1 year of experience with strategic communications or technical writing

-Experience with writing and editing material ranging from technical articles to executive communications 

-Experience with Microsoft Office programs , including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 

-Ability to work as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment and multitask  

-Ability to leverage expertise in editing and analysis

-Ability to obtain a security clearance 

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with writing, journalism, marketing, or business 

-Experience with the DoD or US Army community 

-Knowledge of the issues facing the DoD community 

-Ability to work on science, technology, engineering, and technology (STEM) subject matters 

-Possession of excellent analysis and data gathering skills 

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills 

-Secret clearance preferred

-BA or BS degree in a related field preferred
