Strategic Communications Specialist, Senior

Key Role:

Produce journalist quality written articles, including AP writing style guide and accompanying photographs and captions of IC-wide and public dissemination via client's external and internal multi-media platforms and communications vehicles.  Provide writing and editing support for workforce messages from client leadership to be distributed internally and across the IC enterprise. Research and coordinate content with the appropriate component or agency, write and edit messages to ensure consistency with client's writing standards, review messages prior to release and format, and release messages independently with minimal direction. Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing IC events and activities. Facilitate attendance, marketing branding, advertising, and organizing events. Provide technically finished commercial quality multi-media products, including video and audio products, photographic, and graphics visual information products for distribution and dissemination via multi-media platforms and communications vehicles. 


Basic Qualifications:

-10 years of experience with technical requirements against which the individual is slated to perform

-4 years of experience as an editor reviewing final stories for publication using the Associated Press Stylebook

-3 years of experience with working in the IC

-Experience with researching, reporting, and writing news stories, features, and explanatory articles using the Associated Press writing style

-Experience with digital photography, including using digital cameras and applying the principles of layout, design, editing, and production of multimedia photographic projects

-Experience with writing for multi-media platforms, including Medium and Tumblr

-Experience in managing effective working relationships with senior government or corporate leaders in a high profile and demanding office

-Experience with writing and editing official correspondence on behalf of senior government or corporate leadership to a variety of external stakeholders

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph 

-BA or BS degree in Journalism, Print Journalism, Photo Journalism, or Broadcast Journalism


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with managing competing priorities, including writing and reporting under strict deadlines while paying strict attention to detail

-Knowledge of grammar and punctuation

-Knowledge of the IC mission, objectives, requirements, and organization

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate complex information and ideas to general audiences

-Possession of excellent interpersonal skills for working with intra-agency and inter-agency partners

-MA or MS degree in Journalism, Print Journalism, Photo Journalism, or Broadcast Journalism
