Strategic Communications Specialist

Key Role:

Support a public affairs office with analysis, planning, execution, and assessment necessary for effective public affairs processes. Provide subject matter expertise in public affairs, external outreach, social media, publications, and interdepartmental communication coordination within the command. Demonstrate knowledge of military public affairs, command relationships, and appropriate policies and procedures aligned with communication guidance issued by higher command authorities. Support the extensive stakeholder analysis necessary for thorough knowledge of all audiences, specific relative messages and themes, and pertinent products and actions for effective communication engagement. Leverage knowledge of tactical and strategic communication activities. This position is executed onsite at client headquarters and is not available for remote delivery.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with all aspects of public affairs, including news media activities, community outreach principles, public affairs planning, communication strategy development, and Web site and social media development and execution

-Experience with developing near-finished quality presentations or products from attendance at meetings or handwritten notes

-Experience with formal training in public affairs concepts and techniques to support the development of executive-level communication planning and strategy for senior executives in government and leadership positions

-Knowledge of developing finished planning products, Web site messaging, social media inputs, community outreach tools or plans, and public affairs support planning documents for exercises, campaign plans, and real-world contingencies

-Ability to obtain a security clearance required

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-10+ years of experience in marketing or communications preferred

-10+ years of experience with the military, including various systems, missions, personnel, and capabilities of a broad spectrum of military programs and organizations to research and develop public affairs plans and programs accurately for direct support to military units, such as Combatant Commands preferred

-Ability to demonstrate expertise in commensurate public affairs to contribute successfully at the Combatant Command level preferred

-Secret clearance preferred

-BA or BS degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Affairs preferred

-Completion of Defense Information School (DINFOS) Basic Course or equivalent certifications or training preferred
