Survey Methodologist, Lead

Key Role:

Lead, plan, design, and implement large–scale surveys to meet product delivery, quality, and cost goals on a variety of evaluation and consulting engagements, including healthcare, quality improvement, patient and family engagement, cost– and value–based purchasing models, clinical practice transformation, and other initiatives funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other US federal government agencies. Consult with both evaluation teams and clients on how best to leverage survey–based research tools to answer key research questions and meet client information and evaluation needs. Identify opportunities to grow Booz Allen Hamilton’s existing survey–based research business, lead market research activities around potential opportunities in the healthcare sector, and lead the development of proposals to win new survey research business. Contribute to the development of research and evaluation capacities inside the firm with a focus on healthcare survey capabilities.

Basic Qualifications:

-10 years of experience with healthcare survey projects

-5 years of experience with leading, designing, and managing survey projects

-Experience with survey sampling and estimation methods, including sample weighting

-Experience with assessing and accounting for non–sampling errors, including non–response error, coverage error, and measurement error

-Experience with developing survey materials, including cover letters and survey instruments

-Experience with the requirements of the Paperwork Reduction Act and its OMB clearance process

-Ability to communicate to senior leaders regarding survey design and sampling effectively

-MA or MS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with managing and successfully executing large–scale, probability–based population surveys

-Experience with overseeing mail surveys, including printing and mailing survey materials, receipting returned surveys, converting completed surveys into an electronic database format, developing and executing quality control processes, and editing survey data

-Experience in augmenting address samples with information derived from external sources

-Experience with statistical software, including SAS

-Experience with patient–centered surveys, including Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) surveys 

-Experience with using survey sampling strategies for various survey modes

-Experience with analyzing survey data for trends, patterns, and determining sampling error

-Knowledge of CMS and other HHS agencies

-Knowledge of the limitations of address samples and problems encountered when sampling from address frames and ensure that address samples represent target populations
-MA or MS degree in a related field preferred; PhD degree in Social Science or a related field a plus
