Systems Biologist

The Challenge:
As an expert in synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, or bioprocessing you will create next generation energy technologies to produce transportation fuels and bio-derived products and reduce emissions by leading the design, evaluation, and management of government-sponsored R&D programs. On our team, you’ll be able to broaden your skill set in areas such as, biomass feedstock production, energy systems integration, and techno-economic modeling to expand your knowledge of bio-based fuels, chemicals, and services for accelerated technology commercialization. You will engage and collaborate with a diverse group of technology experts on our team to leverage rapidly maturing technology from other sectors to create next generation bioenergy systems and bioconversion technologies for the circular carbon economy. You Have:

-5+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences on research pertaining to metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, systems biology, or industrial bioprocessing

-Experience in research with potential application towards bioenergy systems and bioprocessing for the production of bio-based fuels, chemicals, materials, and services

-Ability to travel domestically between 10% to 15% of the time

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Biological Engineering, or Chemical Engineering

Nice If You Have:

-3+ years of experience in relevant postdoctoral, academic, or industry roles related to agricultural production systems, remote sensing and phenotyping of crops, bioenergy production, and alternative fuels

-Experience in the bioengineering or bio-based manufacturing fields

-Experience with life cycle analysis

-Experience with systems modeling or machine learning

-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

-Ability to exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and work in a collaborative team environment

-Ability to be a proactive problem-solver and work independently

-Ability to travel for technical discussions

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent organizational, client service, and analytical skills

-Possession of excellent time management skills, including multi-tasking efficiently and effectively
