Systems Engineer

Key Role:

Perform complicated and difficult software or systems design engineering assignments requiring a high degree of technical competence reflecting current state–of–the–art applications. Maintain full technical responsibility for planning, organizing, and conducting technical projects in the design and development of computer systems hardware and software. Conceive and plan projects involving the assessment of basic architecture and current hardware limitations, definition and selection of new concepts and approaches, design, development, and implementation of non–routine major software engineering applications, the analysis and investigation of major software engineering project tasks, the definition of complex design specifications and parameters, development and application of major routines and utility programs, resolutions of difficult hardware and software compatibility and interface design considerations, analysis of system architecture requirements and structures, and related areas. Conduct independent technical investigations in software or systems design. Coordinate and consolidate design efforts on major projects. Prepare design specifications, analysis, and recommendations for presentation and approval. Provide technical guidance to lower level engineers and design support personnel.

Basic Qualifications: 
-2+ years of experience as a systems engineer 
-Experience with participating in an integrated product team to design new capabilities based upon the evaluation of all necessary development and operational considerations 
-Experience with participating in the development of system engineering documentation, including system engineering plans, initial capabilities documents, requirements specifications, interface control documents, contract work breakdown structure (WBS), work packages, and the integrated master plan (IMP) 
-Experience with participating in establishing and gaining approval of the definition of a system or component under development, including requirements, designs, interfaces, and test procedures that provides a common reference point for hardware and software developers 
-Experience with developing derived requirements for information assurance services, including confidentiality, integrity, non–repudiation, and availability, basic information assurance mechanisms, including identification, authentication, access control, and accountability, and security mechanism technology, such as passwords, cryptography, discretionary access control, mandatory access control, hashing, and key management 
-Ability to derive lower–level requirements from higher–level allocated requirements that describe in detail the functions that a system component must fulfill, ensure these requirements are complete, correct, unique, unambiguous, realizable, and verifiable, and generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions 
-Ability to define the methods, processes, and evaluation criteria by which the systems, subsystems, and work products are verified against their requirements in a written plan 
-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph 
-BA or BS degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, or Engineering Management or 5 additional years of experience with system engineering may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree 
 
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
