Systems Software Engineer

Key Role:

Apply basic software engineering technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques associated with VHDL, Verilog, C, and C++ computer languages for real-time embedded software development specifically as it applies to verification and validation, testing, and qualification requirements. Specialize in complex embedded, application, trusted processing, and crypto algorithms in support of an Air Force client across all nuclear sustainment and acquisitions programs and systems. Identify Cyber vulnerabilities in new and legacy weapons systems software and firmware and apply criteria in AFMAN 91-119 to Air Force nuclear weapon designs and proposed changes. Generate and update high-level domain requirements to reduce Cyber risks to weapon systems. Support new and legacy weapon systems team to meet DoD Risk Management Framework key performance parameters and to create Cyber resilient systems. Assist with nuclear surety and certification processes, contribute to critical thinking processes, and engage with a wide range of audiences ranging from novice to expert. Represent and support future nuclear program certification efforts and apply and build knowledge of emerging software technologies.


Basic Qualifications:

-6+ years of experience with systems or embedded software

-Experience with the Cybersecurity of physical systems and firmware

-Experience with software development for embedded multi-processor systems using C, C++, or Ada programming languages

-Experience with reviewing software products for soundness of technical judgment and adequacy

-Knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework

-Knowledge of solid systems engineering principles

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with nuclear weapon systems

-Experience with real-time operating systems

-Experience with programmable logic devices

-Experience with software development of Cyber resilient systems

-Experience with working in a DoD embedded software environment

-Knowledge of data structures and algorithms

-Knowledge of systems software design, operating systems, and architectures

-Ability to work independently or in a team environment

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills

-Top Secret clearance

-MA or MS degree in CS, Computer Engineering, EE, Mathematics, or a related field
