Technical Writer

Key Role:

Obtain and research the data required to perform analysis. Direct and coordinate the development of materials for tracking and status reports. Anticipate logistics problems regarding the operational area and environmental and human factors. Determine overall support requirements, including facilities, safety, and maintenance. Conduct engineering analysis on equipment design to determine the impact of inherent reliability and maintainability on system life cycle supportability. Design and conduct research or technical studies to support logistics functions. Draft or update technical manuals, including organizational level (O-level) and intermediate level (I-level) maintenance manuals, maintenance requirements cards (MRCs), and logistics documents.


Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with developing and updating logistics documents for DoD projects

-Experience as a technical writer, creating technical documents, including IETMS, training manuals, job aids, and technical instructions

-Knowledge of logistics acquisition, supply chain management, and sustainment products

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-HS diploma or GED


Additional Qualifications: 

-Experience as a technical writer with S1000D and PDF document generation and content development

-Experience with providing input into technical manuals and related documents, including detailed visual aids using S1000D, Arbortext Editor, Contenta, PowerLogJ, Compass, Microsoft Word, Adobe, and CorelDRAW and Photo-Paint

-Knowledge of Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM) systems, including the Airborne Mine Neutralization System (AMNS) and Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS)

-Active Secret clearance
