Test Engineer

Key Role:

Define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret developmental tests for new and modified products or product components. Investigate and resolve operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. Provide technical support and advice to other engineering groups and guide and direct junior personnel on test setup and performance. Liaise with outside suppliers to establish or modify specifications for purchased items and devise and apply testing procedures for parts or sub-assemblies received from outside vendors. Plan, conduct, and supervise assignments under general supervision, review progress, evaluate results, and plan and assign personnel to given projects or tasks. Recommend changes in procedures, operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision, and review progress with management. Serve as and provide expertise as a test and evaluation (T&E) team member supporting Interoperability and Waveform Standards Conformance (WSC) testing of various radio systems.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with testing

-Experience with test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, and vector signal analyzers

-Knowledge of various modulation techniques, including AM, FM, FSK, and PSK

-Ability to characterize modulation techniques and perform detailed and complex signals analysis

-Ability to comprehend and perform basic oscilloscope measurements, including period, frequency, and voltage

-Ability to comprehend and perform basic spectrum analyzer measurements, including channel power, adjacent channel power, occupied bandwidth, carrier to noise ratio, harmonic distortion, and intermodulation distortion

-Ability to perform test measurements, including impedance, VSWR, sensitivity, SINAD, and other signal and noise measurements

-Secret clearance

-AA or AS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with LabView

-Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

-Knowledge of interleaving and encoding techniques

-Ability to embrace and use various planning, testing, analyzing, and reporting approaches

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent analytic and time management skills
