Weapon System Engineer

Key Role:

Analyze a variety of information and intelligence relevant to the threats facing the systems, assets, and resources critical to the nation and develop relevant research studies and recommendations. Estimate kinematic and dynamic engagement trajectories using 3-DOF and 6-DOF representations of the IMDS interceptors and targets. Modify vehicle simulations to represent changes, including thrust, flyout, staging, aerodynamics, guidance schemes, such as guidance updates and terminal homing strategies, penaid deployments, and homing sensors. Participate in the weapon system concept development phase and prepare assessments of proposed designs. Prepare performance predictions and perform analysis for footprint, architecture, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) or Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), nuclear survivability, and Target Object Mapping (TOM). Conduct engineering studies and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) evaluations related to short, medium, and intermediate range missile defense system architectures and prepare associated reports. Review missile defense threat data packages (TDPs), prepare assessments, and perform weapon system target signature, wake, debris, and countermeasures modeling. 

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with providing engineering or scientific support on systems, system elements, interfacing systems, components, devices, or processes for developmental and operational weapon system engineering programs

-Ability to implement system engineering processes across a program acquisition life cycle

-Active Secret clearance

-BS degree and 5+ years of experience with weapon systems or 10+ years of experience with weapon systems in lieu of degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with the design, development, testing, or production of missile defense weapon systems or components

-Experience with working through Failure Review Board processes and resolution of findings

-Experience with current threats and future threat designs, functionality, performance, countermeasures, and defending against these threats

-Experience with interacting and supporting high level government clients, including generating briefing and written products and presenting information at the executive level

-Knowledge of 3- and 6-DOF analysis with missile defense weapon systems

-Knowledge of missile defense system performance predictions and analysis, including both nuclear survivability and EMI or RFI

-Knowledge of the various upper and lower tier weapon systems in missile defense

-Ability to plan, coordinate, and support product development in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and work in a collaborative team environment 

-Ability to conduct trade studies and analysis of alternatives

-Ability to support the IMTP and generate test configuration sheets
