Materials Test Engineer

Key Role:

Perform as a senior member in our elite Digital Battlespace Platform (DBP) team to build next-generation technologies for our defense clients leading our materials and science engineering efforts. Join a dynamic team responsible for developing, integrating, and testing digital solutions to create emerging technologies and products for the next generation of Warfighters. Develop, characterize, and support the scale-up of advanced materials, emphasizing high-temperature materials and high-performance composites for defense and aerospace applications and using various levels of testing for characterization and process development for manufacturing of materials. Advise organizational leadership on emerging technologies and market targets of opportunity for marketing and implementation. Work alongside leadership to ensure soldier solutions are fully integrated to increase business capability and value, reduce cost and risk, foster innovation, and maximize accountability and return on investment. Advise organizational leadership on how to implement emerging technologies and work alongside leadership to ensure Soldier solutions are fully integrated on a continuous basis to increase mission capability and value to our clients. Maintain responsibility for evaluating technical specifications relating to the design objectives of processes or products and evaluate the impact of materials processing on the environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in surface metrology analysis or materials engineering, research, or design

  • Experience with supporting materials programs in the DoD

  • Experience with composite materials, ceramics, or protective polymer coatings

  • Knowledge of lab testing or evaluation of materials for component survivability or optimization

  • Ability to set up quality assurance measures or test performance requirements

  • Ability to perform market research or technical report writing

  • Ability to develop 3-D CAD modeling and generate engineering drawings using SolidWorks or Inventor

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with machining operations, including basic 3-axis CNC mill, power tools, or wet saw

  • Experience in coordinating with production and material processing teams for product application

  • Experience with identifying, selecting, and recommending materials for various extreme conditions and environments

  • Experience with the in-product testing process and improving overall testing process improvements

  • Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in highly complex environments

  • Top Secret clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
