VoIP Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Create, implement, troubleshoot, and automate new products and services. Troubleshoot SIP, RTP, SRTP, SDP, and WebRTC issues. Configure and manage VoIP systems, including Cisco CUCM, Avaya Aura, and FreeSWITCH. Configure and troubleshoot Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) services for an enterprise program, including FreeSWITCH call controllers, SONUS SBCs, SIP Proxies, and other program Session Controllers and Call Managers. Perform comprehensive coding to help create custom scripts to address issues or introduce new features, including real-time call management, load balancing, and digit manipulation. Implement and support hardware, software, and telephony systems that provide the infrastructure for customer support. Apply advanced consulting and extensive technical expertise and full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems, work without considerable direction, and mentor and supervise team members.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with IP networking, routing, and switching

  • 2+ years of experience architecting and designing VoIP solutions

  • Experience conducting vendor analyses and product evaluations

  • Knowledge of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) protocol, including troubleshooting SIP signaling message types, such as REGISTER, INVITE, ACK, or CANCEL, at various stages of the communication flow, including initiating, registering, maintaining, modifying, and terminating

  • Knowledge of the RTP Audio and Video Profile (RTP/AVP), including general-purpose and data payload formats for audio and video streams

  • Secret clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with VoIP vendor solutions, including Cisco, such as CUCM, IM&P, Unity Connection, or CUBE, Ribbon, such as AS, 5000 Series, 7000 Series, or SWe SBCs, Avaya, such as AS5300 or Aura CM 7.x, 8.x, or Oracle and AcmePacket SBCs

  • Experience with Active Directory and Single Sign-On, VMware, and Cisco and Juniper routers and switches

  • Knowledge of the Session Description Protocol (SDP), including troubleshooting voice, video, and data response messages, discerning return responses and status codes to identify failures and errors, and determining further actions for achieving communication success

  • Knowledge of audio, including G.711, G.729, Speex, or Opus, and video, including H.264, H.265, VP8, or VP9 encoding standards

  • CCNA Voice Certifications or higher

  • Bachelor's degree
