Action Officer

Key Role:

Support a Department of Defense (DoD) client with their mission, by providing analytical, technical, and security expertise of Special Access Programs (SAPs). Support the client in advancing horizontal protection of advanced capabilities and systems across the DoD, and safeguarded export and foreign investment of sensitive military technologies. Lead project efforts and assist the client with initiatives in DoD enterprise reform. Lead and facilitate collaboration with stakeholders to the greatest extent practicable, while improving the security and protection of SAP equities. Support the Low Observable and Counter Low Observable executive process, and conduct program review, which includes oversight, and governance support. Prepare and deliver senior leader decision packages that incorporate input from DoD Components and Military Departments. Conduct technology review and protect SAP interests in the cases managed by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), ensuring that foreign acquisitions or mergers of U.S. businesses and properties do not risk SAP equities or DoD security interests.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting executive leadership in the DoD, Joint Staff, or a Military Component

  • 5+ years of experience working on Defense programs or projects

  • Experience as an action officer

  • Experience with DoD policy, technical writing, and strategic messaging

  • Ability to communicate with the client, manage stakeholders, and lead working groups and executive committees

  • Ability to independently lead a DoD client operation, including risk assessments, case management, product delivery, and decision packages

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience providing stakeholder input in CFIUS cases and interpreting CFIUS regulations

  • Experience writing or interpreting Security Classification Guides

  • Knowledge of SAPs and its DoD policies

  • Knowledge of advanced weapons technologies and technology security

  • Ability to consult with non-technical audiences on technical problems

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment, and balance long and short-term tasks

  • Ability to take poorly defined, complex problems and frame them into questions for which practical solutions can be defined

  • Ability to be agile, responsible, and innovative in an ambiguous environment and matrixed organization

  • Ability to work independently, conduct thorough analysis, and deliver quality deliverables

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
