The Opportunity
We’re looking for a skilled electrochemist to help drive advancements in battery research and development for the Department of Defense. Our clients are pursuing revolutionary innovations in battery material development, specifically developing conductive polymer materials to advance flexible battery technology well beyond the state-of-the-art. The ideal candidate will not only have technical experience in one or more of these areas, but will also have experience in managing the execution of technical projects and programs.
As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical consultant to program managers at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), helping to oversee the creation and execution of advanced government-funded research and development programs in microsystems design for flexible battery applications. You’ll work with world-class scientists and engineers to identify program goals and metrics that will enable mission success. You will maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders. This position will require travel within the U.S., when necessary to accommodate client needs, and is based in Arlington, VA.

You Have:
- Experience in electrochemistry and developing battery technology
- Experience authoring, editing, and proofreading technical papers, presentations, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience meeting target milestones, timelines, and budgets for projects or programs
- Ability to commute to Arlington, VA
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in a professional work environment, Master's degree and 3+ years of experience in a professional work environment, or Doctorate degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
Nice If You Have:
- Experience in qualifying batteries for commercial or military use
- Experience performing or supporting government-sponsored research activities
- Experience managing programs or projects across various stages of their lifecycle
- Knowledge of conductive polymers and flexible battery technology
- Ability to work on tasks quickly, independently, and collaboratively in a team atmosphere
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
- Ability to pay strict attention to detail
- Possession of outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
