The Challenge:
When a user tries a new system, they expect it to be intuitive and run smoothly. Functionality, reliability, and user experience are key to successful information systems, and that means rigorous testing. That’s why we need you, an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist who knows how to thoroughly test software and ensure that our team releases the best system possible. As a quality assurance leader, you’ll oversee a team of testers, automated test engineers, data analysts and data engineers evaluating developed systems for the Navy. You’ll guide your team to develop and implement a test plan based on functional and technical requirements, along with system, technical, and interface analysis.
You will evaluate proposed software releases, drawing on requirements, technical, and interface analysis and an understanding of the Navy enterprise, including legacy and transformed systems, to determine appropriate testing activities to validate the proposed release. Once you have conducted high level analysis, you will brief Navy leadership and others on the QA needs of the release and a high-level plan to conduct testing. You will work with program leadership and your team to design and develop test events, including functional, automated, performance, regression, usability, user acceptance, and others. You will need to understand and account for potential Independent Verification and Validation, and certification requirements when developing test plans. You will also be responsible for leading development of test cases and scenarios, identifying and fulfilling data needs for testing, and identifying appropriate test environments. You will be responsible for identifying performance criteria for performance testing and designing appropriate test activities to ensure criteria are met.
You will also be expected to guide adoption of automated testing tools and determine appropriate usage of automated test activities. You will determine situations where "White Box" testing is appropriate and plan that testing. You will have responsibility for test execution, reporting and resolution for test activities conducted by the Navy, and you will be expected to coordinate with your counterparts in other organizations to ensure complete testing coverage across the enterprise. This is an opportunity to expand your skills in planning designing and executing enterprise-wide testing activities, scheduling release activities, briefing Navy leadership, and guiding and mentoring your team. Are you a visionary test lead? Are you ready to implement your vision to drive systems solutions to transform and optimize how the Navy manages its people?
