Space Science Technologist

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for skilled researchers to help drive advancements in experimental space science, including but not limited to the application of propulsion, plasma physics, ionospheric physics, for the design and generation of technologies for the Department of Defense. Our clients are pursuing revolutionary advancements well beyond the state-of-the-art. You’ll leverage your technical experience in one or more of these areas but will also apply expertise in managing the execution of technical projects and programs.

As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical specialist to program managers at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), advising on advanced government-funded research and development programs. You’ll work with world-class scientists and engineers to provide strategic assessments of emerging technologies.  You will maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders. This position is located in Arlington, VA.

You Have:

• Ability to pay strict attention to detail and develop technical documents and presentations
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• TS/SCI clearance
• Master's degree and 10+ years of experience in experimental space science research and development, including propulsion technologies, plasma diagnostics and sources, ionospheric physics, custom sensors, data processing and analysis techniques, or system integration, or Doctorate degree and 5+ years of experience in experimental space science research and development, including propulsion technologies, plasma diagnostics and sources, ionospheric physics, custom sensors, data processing and analysis techniques, or system integration

Nice If You Have:

• Experience with Department of Defense research and development programs
• Experience managing programs or projects across various stages of their lifecycle 
• Possession of excellent organization and client service skills 
• Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and editing 
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines with minimal oversight

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,400.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
