Data Architect, Senior

The Challenge:

Our data architects design, build and optimize the data architectures that drive critical mission operations and address some of the most complex problems facing our country and the world today. As a data architect at Booz Allen, you will define solution concepts and implementation architectures for scalable, event-driven and distributed data solutions to enable process automation, analytics, machine learning, IoT, and beyond. Our data architects comprehend data and data management at enterprise scale and translate business-oriented information requirements into technical data solutions by developing and implementing enterprise data strategies for the management and sharing of data for more effective cross-enterprise and inter-enterprise system interoperability. You will leverage expertise in database design, data modeling, data integration, modern data implementations, big data tools, and data exchange standards for cloud, on-premise, and hybrid deployments.

As a member of our data architecture team, you will grow your ability to architect and design enterprise-grade data solutions. You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience within data architecture, data engineering, or database management

  • Experience with software design patterns and data management principles

  • Experience with distributed scalable Big Data, including Apache Spark, Cloudbase, HBase, or Big Table

  • Experience with relational databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, AWS RDS, or Azure Database 

  • Experience with cloud services, including AWS Redshift, Azure SQL Database, or Snowflake

  • Ability to show flexibility, initiative, and innovation when dealing with ambiguous and fast-paced situations

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with the design and development of multiple object-oriented systems

  • Experience with event processing or streaming architectures

  • Experience with NoSQL tools, including Hadoop or Accumulo

  • Experience with data pipeline or ETL technologies, including Apache NiFi, StreamSets or AWS Glue

  • Experience with Agile software development

  • Knowledge of application deployment frameworks, including Spring, Docker, or Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of distributed data processing technologies, including Apache Kafka, Spark, or Databricks

  • Knowledge of data security, access control, and data protection techniques
