2023 Central Maryland Summer Intern

The Opportunity:

Are you fascinated by High Performance Computing (HPC) systems? Do you enjoy exploring ways to achieve energy efficiency in computing using inexact or non-deterministic computer algorithms and hardware?

As a junior data scientist and researcher, you will simulate and analyze a variety of novel models of computation, including optical and nano magnetic. You will work as a member of a highly collaborative team of researchers designing and testing algorithms to simulate different aspects of probabilistic computation. You will write software in Python or C to solve math problems related to calculus, linear algebra, numerical solvers, probability theory, machine learning, and data compression schemes as required. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely.

You Have:  

  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages

  • Ability to produce technical documentation and create design artifacts

  • Ability to work independently and in teams

  • Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor's degree by Summer 2025

Nice If You Have:  

  • Knowledge of Python and C++ preferred

  • Ability to communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences effectively

  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks

  • Pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, CS, Engineering, or a related IT field preferred

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

Colorado: $55,300 - $102,300 (annualized USD)

New York (including New York City): $58,300 - $122,800 (annualized USD)
