Environmental Management Systems Coordinator

Key Role:

Analyze, evaluate, document, apply, and implement policies, procedures, and regulations to meet organizational, industry, and governmental requirements. Apply specific functional, working, and general industry knowledge. Support the organization with compliance, testing, and monitoring of conformance to regulatory and legislative requirements, including audits related to a variety of regulations, including environmental, financial, health, and safety. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance. Review or guide activities of more junior employees. Leverage experience in government research and development laboratory operations and facilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with Management Systems implementation, coordination and auditing practices for ISO 45001 Safety Management Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, or ISO 9001Quality Management Systems
  • Experience with environmental science or policy, emergency management, or federal regulations, including internships or volunteer work
  • Knowledge of government research and development laboratory operations and facilities
  • Public Trust
  • Associate's degree
  • Ability to obtain 40Hour HAZWOPER Certification and Management Systems, Management Systems Lead Auditing Credentials Certification within 90 days of hire

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to plan and conduct internal audits of management systems
  • Ability to identify and rank significant environmental aspects and impacts
  • Ability to develop Environmental Management Programs so that the environmental objectives and targets can be achieved
  • Ability to develop and implement corrective action tracking
  • Ability to prepare presentations, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 procedures, and awareness publications
  • Ability to assist in preparation of Management Systems meetings, including drafting of agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up actions
  • Management Systems, Management Systems Auditing Credentials Certification
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification
