Network Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Identify information to be monitored using systems and software to provide monitoring capabilities, recommended event triggering thresholds, incident response measures, and Cybersecurity reporting processes and procedures, including recommended actions to implement similar capabilities across the Air Force portfolio. Resolve difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms, including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, and teleconferencing. Update the Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) Crew Binder and crew material repository, as required, including systems configurations updates, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Incident Response Plans, Best Practices, and training documentation. Support the government by developing requirements with supported System Program Offices (SPOs) to present an optimized, data-centric, and layered Cyber defense approach. Provide support for the analysis of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and Government off the Shelf (GOTS) tools and Cyber support services. Analyze and evaluate current and emerging technologies and COTS or GOTS software for potential insertion into existing systems of information systems under development. Define and track the status of Cyber defense and Cybersecurity maturity levels regarding operations on the assigned government IT systems being defended and the status of projects and activities to implement or improve Cyber defenses.

Basic Qualifications:

-4+ years of experience with reviewing, planning, and evaluating network system under supervision

-3 years of experience with SIEM, IDS, and IPS maintenance or implementation

-Experience with providing documentation, project tracking, and reporting to management levels

-Experience with providing tactical and strategic input on overall network planning

-Knowledge of a variety of networking concepts, practices, and procedures

-Ability to troubleshoot network systems and recommend improvements to the network

-Ability to rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complicated tasks while leading and directing the work of others

-TS/SCI clearance

-BS degree

-DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level III Certification
