Onsite Desktop Technician, Senior
The Challenge:

As an onsite desktop technician on our project, you’ll have oversight of a team of system admins and provide direction on prioritization of the work and identify high risk critical problems and dedicate appropriate resources appropriately. You'll apply technical expertise and act as an escalation point for challenges that arise. Conduct routine system administration tasks and log data in system admin logs. You’ll learn how to help customers overcome tough challenges through monitoring and oversight. You’ll analyze problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission critical network. You’ll be able to combine your technical experience with communication skills as you turn metrics into information and communicate their meaning. This is an opportunity to gain experience in maintaining, troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks, providing desktop and end user support to the VA. We focus on growing as a team, so we’ll share techniques, work through challenges, and develop new methodologies together. You Have:

  • Experience with providing technical expertise and oversight of a team
  • Experience with performing quality control on completed tasks, submitting reports to senior leadership on project plans and responsibility in personnel oversight
  • Experience with conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs
  • Experience with maintaining troubleshooting for a wide variety of systems and networks, including high volume or high availability systems
  • Experience with collaborating with project teams, security, database and network administrators, ISOs, operations support staff, and stakeholders, including DoD operations, and other system administration support staff
  • Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and issues identified by customers and implement corrective actions
  • Ability to unpack, move, or install IT equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, frequently traverse around the site campus transporting equipment to various office buildings, and frequently position self to maintain computers and pull cords under desks and in server closets
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • HS diploma or GED and 13+ years of experience with systems administration or BS degree in CS, EE, or Engineering Technology and 5+ years of experience with systems administration

  • Experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system a plus
  • Experience with the VA
  • Public Trust clearance​
