System Administrator and Lab Manager

Key Role:

Provide computer network operations capability development and engineering services, including system administration support to laboratory environments to support critical missions and gain strategic advantages. Perform system administration to develop and maintain a stand-alone government research and development laboratory comprised of network infrastructure, physical and virtual servers, and workstations needed to support mission requirements. Administer operating systems, including several flavors of Linux, Windows, and OS X, and hardware, including Dell servers, switches, network attached storage arrays, and tape drives, Symantec backup appliance, Cisco switches, Apple workstations, and custom built workstations. Research, troubleshoot, recommend, and implement innovative solutions to complex problems. Transfer data between systems, manage varied levels of system accesses, and document processes and procedures. Work independently with some guidance, learn from and mentor senior technical staff, and learn new technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with system administration

-Experience with supporting and troubleshooting issues in a lab network

-Experience with performing data transfers

-Experience with documenting and editing processes and procedures

-Experience with Linux or Windows system administration

-Experience in working with Active Directory

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph required

-BS degree or 10+ years of experience with system administration in lieu of a degree

-Ability to obtain IAT Level 1 Certification, including A+ or Net+ within 3 months of start date

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Citrix and VMware virtualization platforms

-Experience with installing and configuring virtual servers and thin clients

-Experience with Linux over Windows

-Experience with Cisco switch port configuration
