Joint Mortuary Affairs Specialist

The Opportunity:

As the INDOPACOM Joint Mortuary Affairs Officer, you will use your skills to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with the staff of the US Indo-Pacific Command, Service Components, and various external agencies, including US Transportation Command. You will ensure information sharing and organizational synchronization and develop strong working relationships with stakeholders to ensure mission success. You will utilize appropriate methods for collecting and analyzing data to ensure relevance and accuracy for use in studies and analysis. You will identify requirements, provide input on logistics shortfalls in strategic and operational planning and operations, and develop solutions for deliberate, crisis action, and joint planning processes.

You Have: 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Department of Defense causality and mortuary affairs professional

  • 3+ years of experience with Joint Mortuary Affairs operations and planning

  • Knowledge of Joint Publication 4-06 Mortuary Affairs, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Manual (CJCSM) 3122.03, and Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) Volume II, Planning Formats

  • Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods for coordinating with Service component commands to collect data on the recovery status of deceased and missing personnel

  • Knowledge of support feasibility to provide procedural guidance concerning the transfer of adversary, multinational military, and civilian human remains and their personal effects to the custody of another government, including maintenance of records required by the Geneva Conventions

  • Ability to speak and write professionally when meeting and contacting officials on the various interrelated systems

  • Ability to analyze systems, organize results, recommend solutions to complex issues, and establish written internal or external procedures on programs, concepts of operation (CONOPs), and projects

  • Ability to work non-standard work hours, as needed

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience with a wide range of global resources and capabilities, analyzing mortuary supplies and equipment in a theater setting

  • Knowledge of the Air Mobility Command and Pacific Air Forces processes for requesting military airlift support, designating port of embarkation (POE) holding facilities, and surface and aerial evacuation routes of human remains and personal effects

  • Ability to monitor established agreements with affected countries, multinational partners, the US government (USG), and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs)

  • Experience liaising with the Joint Force Public Affairs Office and the Joint Environmental Management Board on Mortuary Affairs environmental protection activities

  • Experience publishing guidance on environmental protection requirements and references as required

  • Knowledge of Joint Campaign, Contingency, and Crisis Action Planning procedures

  • Knowledge of Joint Doctrine and ATP 4-46, MCRP 3-40G.3, NTTP 4-06: Multi-Service Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for Mortuary Affairs in Theaters of Operations

  • Ability to conduct strategic assessments and brief senior military leaders

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Master’s degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
