As a chemical engineer, you have the chance to solve complex challenges and shape industrial systems or facilities by assessing the design of chemical production, refining, or research and development. As part of the Ordnance Assurance and Safety team, you will review laboratory processes for the elimination of hazards associated with industrial chemicals and mixing formulations for explosives ingredients. You'll provide consultation on mixing operations, small-scale safety testing, thermal analyses, physical characterizations, and output characterizations. You will aid in energetic material characterization efforts designed to understand small-scale explosive hazards. You'll facilitate meetings and assist working groups. You will develop reports and specialized papers, review and revise policies, and conduct briefings related to explosive formulations and mixing processes. You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, research, or lab setting for chemistry or explosives

  • Experience with manufacturing processes of chemicals, inspection, maintenance, and storage of explosives

  • Knowledge of thermal and mechanical properties of materials

  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation and waste disposal

  • Knowledge of policy and procedures related to Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT)

  • Knowledge of the theories, procedures, and analytical techniques necessary to produce reliable reviews, consultations, results, and conclusions of chemical process assessment

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Science

Nice If You Have:

  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP)

  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering

  • Professional Engineer License Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,100.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
