Key Role:
Research, design, analyze, build, integrate, and test laser and optical systems in laser weapon systems and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) electro-optical systems, leveraging expertise in different laser and optical approaches, beam control, algorithms, requirements, and dependencies. Analyze the development of laser weapon and ISR requirements from operational requirements, including output power, beam quality, jitter, atmospheric compensation, camera requirements, size, weight, prime power, and cooling. Research applicable technologies and analyze the development of plans and the building and integration of laser and ISR systems, including laser sources, fast steering mirrors, optics mountings, telescopes, sensors, sensor mounts, exit windows, optical benches, and gimbals. Design, develop, test, and document internal and external interfaces and evaluate options to achieve requirements, including operating in stressing environments, survivability, maintainability, reliability, and operability. Develop and apply advanced optical engineering and beam control design methods, theories, and research techniques to the investigation and solution of complex and advanced problems. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely.
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in laser optical and beam control systems with High Energy Lasers
Experience in the design, development, and integration of beam control systems and controls related to laser systems, including control, alignment, and line of site stabilization
Experience with beam control architectures employing fast steering mirror design and control
Experience with optical systems design and trade analysis
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics
Additional Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with HEL systems, including fiber laser technology
5+ years of experience with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) electro-optical systems development, analysis, test and evaluation (T&E), and installation
Experience with the integration of laser systems and major components of a laser system including the optical train
Experience with laser weapon systems, including control systems, opto-mechanics, characterization and specification, beam shaping, and beam control
Knowledge of practical problems associated with the design, building, integration, and testing of laser weapon systems
Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.
Colorado: $104,100 - $213,800 (annualized USD)
New York (including New York City): $109,600 - $254,500 (annualized USD)
