As a Model Based Systems Engineer on our team, you have the chance to deliver products and services to government clients in the directed energy field. You will work on complex technical problems, provide highly innovative solutions, develop advanced technology ideas, and guide system development into a final product. You will apply knowledge of the systems engineering (SE) discipline across one or more components of the system development life cycle (SDLC), including concept development, technical planning, requirements development, system analysis, system design, integration, verification, transition, operations, obsolescence, and disposal. You will participate in program integrated product teams (IPTs) and drive the proper application of SE processes. You will need to demonstrate experience with the SE process for system acquisitions, including SE plans, system engineering technical reviews (SETRs), system certification processes, and specialty engineering activities.

You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience performing SE for weapons systems

  • 2+ years of experience using the architecture of complex systems to create and manage a tailored model-based systems engineering (MBSE) product to support interface management, system interface control documents, system behavior diagrams, including use cases, sequence diagrams, and network diagrams, and mapping system requirements to physical and functional architecture, and conducting configuration management of system configurations

  • Experience with SE requirements and concept development, design and development of system architecture, systems hardware design and development, human systems integration, system integration and testing, and MBSE principles used to generate SE products

  • Experience with MBSE tools, including Innoslate, CAMEO, or MagicDraw

  • Experience orchestrating the development of a system of interest encompassing hardware or software through its entire life cycle, from requirements determination through operations and system retirement, with an emphasis on domain expert involvement, risk and opportunity management, and tailoring of processes to meet the needs of the specific project

  • Knowledge of Model-Based Development and the transition from paper-based processes to model-based processes, including MBE, MBSE, OSA, SySML, M&S, or HLA

  • Ability to build a digital thread through a program by using models throughout the development life cycle

  • Ability to operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with the U.S. Navy or armed services’ directed energy systems research and development program   

  • Experience with combat system integration with command and control, weapon control, networks, display systems, and communications systems

  • Experience with requirements management using the DOORS tool

  • Knowledge of SE disciplines, including configuration management, risk management, Cybersecurity, system safety, and certification processes

  • Ability to mentor or supervise employees in both firm and technical competencies

  • Master’s degree

  • Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,300.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
