The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Network Operations Engineer to join our team in supporting the Department of War (DoW) by assisting in the key operational oversight activities in monitoring, troubleshooting, and scanning of network systems. In this role, you’ll monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network systems while ensuring performance, security, and scalability across diverse environments. Collaborating with experienced engineers, you’ll solve complex technical challenges, assist with vulnerability management, and continuously improve network security compliance.

What You'll Do:
- Proactively monitor network performance metrics to ensure stability, reliability, and optimal throughput.
- Use tools like SolarWinds, Forward Networks, or similar platforms to detect network anomalies and improve system efficiencies.
- Maintain and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network configurations, troubleshooting workflows, and monitoring processes.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues across hardware, software, and protocols, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify root causes of disruptions and enable timely resolutions.
- Perform security scans using DoD-approved tools to identify vulnerabilities, assess compliance, and mitigate risks in line with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to design and implement strategies for addressing risks and strengthening security postures.
- Upgrade legacy systems while researching and integrating innovative network technologies.
- Test and validate networking tools in operational environments, carefully documenting results and findings.
- Deliver clear, concise communications to leadership and stakeholders, translating technical insights into actionable recommendations.

You Have:
- 5+ years of experience with network engineering, including complex network implementations
- Experience with network protocols, such as TCP/IP, DHCP, or SNMP, and technologies, such as Cisco and Juniper
- Experience in network monitoring tools such as Wireshark or SolarWinds
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving advanced network challenges in non-enterprise environments
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices
- Secret clearance
- HS diploma or GED
- CompTIA Security+ Certification
Nice If You Have:
- Experience in documenting configurations, processes, and network troubleshooting guides.
- Experience with wireless tools, such as Aruba or Cisco wireless, or firewalls such as Palo Alto or Fortinet
- Experience with scripting tools such as Python or Ansible for streamlining tasks
- Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies and cloud networking environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Bachelor's degree
- Certifications such as Aruba Certified Mobility Associate (ACMA), CCNA, or CompTIA Network+, CASP+, or CISSP certification
Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
