Kubernetes Platform Engineer

The Opportunity:

As a Kubernetes platform engineer, you know how to build resilient platforms that meets customer needs and takes advantage of the power of containerization both in the cloud and on premises. As a Kubernetes platform engineer on our team, you’ll develop and sustain multiple secure, resilient, and highly available Kubernetes clusters to support mission critical operations both regionally and on the edge. You’ll recommend tools and capabilities based on your research of the environment and knowledge of various on premise, cloud based, and hybrid resources. Your technical expertise will be vital as you work with your customer to ensure standards are met throughout the process. This is an opportunity to use the latest cloud technologies as you look for ways to improve your customer’s environment using cloud capabilities and implementing them on the edge. As a technical leader, you’ll identify new opportunities to build cloud-based solutions to help your customers meet their evolving needs. You Have: 

• 5+ years of experience in the development of tools and processes to drive DevOps or DevSecOps maturity by automating builds, testing, monitoring, and pushing releases across environments 
• 5+ years of experience with OOP scripting or programming languages and Kubernetes
• 5+ years of experience automating infrastructure provisioning with tools  
• 5+ years of experience with configuration management tools and automating CI/CD pipelines  
• Experience developing enterprise cloud-native solutions and hosting applications on commercial cloud providers 
• Experience managing, administrating, configuring, deploying, and maintaining environments and system integration tools, including Kubernetes, Rancher, Harbor, Helm, Longhorn, or Rook-Ceph
• Experience ingesting and displaying metrics and data sources using dashboarding tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, or Datadog
• Experience working with application development teams across the software development lifecycle and creating solutions to complex problems within a collaborative team environment 
• Ability to obtain a security clearance 
• Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of experience in DevOps in lieu of a degree 

Nice If You Have:   

• Experience with tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet 
• Experience with cloud solutions or providers such as AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP
• Experience working with Site Reliability Engineering concepts, principals, and best practices
• Experience triaging and resolving issues related to both open source and commercial tools in public cloud environments 
• Experience automating CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins or GitLab 
• Experience with containerization and container orchestration platforms with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes 
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Linux Shell Script 
• Knowledge of common build tools such as Maven, Gradle, and NPM
• Secret clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
