Technologist, Lead

We are seeking Data Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies. As a Booz Allen Hamilton Data Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Booz Allen Hamilton.  

You will collaborate with and across Agile teams of technologist to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using various open source and COTS technologies. Work with a team of developers with deep experience in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full stack systems. Utilize programming languages like Java, Scala, Python and Enterprise and Open-Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases and Cloud based data warehousing services such as Redshift and Snowflake. Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with, and learning new technologies, participating in internal and external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community. Collaborate with digital product managers and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences. Perform unit tests and conduct reviews with other team members to make sure your code is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for performance. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely. 

You Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in application development or big data technologies
  • 5+ years of experience in application development including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java 
  • 4+ years of experience in Enterprise databases, including Microsoft SQL server, or Oracle, and writing and debugging complex SQL queries  
  • 4+ years of experience with Distributed data or computing tools, including MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL
  • 3+ years of experience in developing applications using JavaScript/Typescript, Rest API, Angular, Angular Material, RxJS, NGXS, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and Kendo UI 
  • 2+ years of experience with NoSQL and Graph databases, including Mongo, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, DataStax, Neo4j, CouchDB, or CKAN
  • 2+ years of experience with a public cloud, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience in designing secure, cloud-based APIs 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or Software Engineering  

Nice If You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience using Redshift, Snowflake, Star, and Dimensional Modelling 
  • 3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and Shell Scripting  
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices 
  • 3+ years of experience with Ansible
  • 2+ years of experience working on Real Time data and streaming applications 
  • 2+ years of experience with Airflow 
  • 2+ years of experience in AI and ML 
  • Experience in DevSecOps 
  • Experience in DevOps Build and Release pipelines 
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT or Software Engineering

The salary for this position will be determined based on various factors. The proposed salary range for this position in Colorado is $140,000 to $165,000.
