CAD Drafter and Checker

Key Role:

Prepares technical drawings and documentation. Develops detailed design specifications for products and structures, and specifies dimensions, materials, and procedures. Communicates and collaborates with internal and external as well as technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels, to ensure the quality and accuracy of drawings, models, and other written deliverables. Understands role and applies knowledge of program and project requirements, policies, and procedures. Performs moderately difficult support tasks. Works independently with minimal supervision and follows general instruction.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting (CAD), in a professional environment using SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD

  • 2+ years of experience performing peer reviews or drawing checking in accordance with ASME Y14.5

  • Knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing for 2D drawing development

  • Knowledge of 3D modeling techniques and best practices

  • Ability to develop detailed technical documentation, including 2D technical drawings, detailed bills of material, and associated written technical documentation

  • Ability to collaborate with an integrated product team, including a variety of technical and non-technical teammates

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with hardware design, development, model-based definition, prototyping, and integration of electromechanical prototype or military systems

  • Experience with 3d modeling programs, including CREO, Solid Edge, or Inventor

  • Experience with Configuration Management or SOLIDWORKS PDM

  • Knowledge of fabrication, assembly, and modern manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing, and subtractive manufacturing techniques, including CNC

  • Secret clearance

  • SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, or ASME GD&T Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $45,300.00 to $93,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
