Cloud Computing Application Architect

The Opportunity:  

Everyone is trying to “harness the cloud,” but not everyone knows how. As a cloud computing application architect, you know how to create a cloud-based technical architecture that meets client needs and takes advantage of cloud capabilities. What if you could use your cloud architecture skills to improve warfighter communications? We need you to help us develop cloud-based solutions for some of Defense's toughest problems. 

This is an opportunity to use the latest cloud technologies as you look for ways to improve your client’s environment using current cloud capabilities. Using your technical experience, you’ll work with cloud teams to inform strategy and design and ensure standards are met throughout the cloud migration process.  

You’ll recommend tools and solutions based on your research of the current environment and knowledge of various on-premise, cloud-based, and hybrid resources. You’ll work with your team as they help the client overcome their most difficult challenges in the cloud. Additionally, you’ll grow your skills in areas like Navy's cloud based platforms, while developing critical systems for the Warfighting Lab.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with IT software development or engineering, including collecting requirements, and developing technical solution roadmaps for implementation    

  • 3+ years of experience with configuring commercial off-the-shelf solutions to meet customer requirements

  • Experience with implementing robust security measures for cloud environments and optimization of cloud-based applications for performance, resource efficiency, and cost

  • Experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions, and automated deployment, scaling, and management of cloud infrastructure

  • Knowledge of capability of a multi-cloud, multi-availability zone ecosystem that leverages IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS with integrated Active Directory Federated Services within Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure

  • Ability to implement cloud enabled Enterprise Collaboration and Productivity Services (ECAPS) and the functionality of Defense Enterprise Office Solution (DEOS)

  • Ability to directly align Automated Development and Test Environment (ADTE) objectives to strategic line of efforts to modernize the network

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering, or a Mathematics or Engineering field

Nice If You Hav:

  • 5+ years of experience with supporting Navy or Marine Corps applications and systems

  • Experience with Identity Authentication and Authorization

  • Experience with Advanced Networking design and troubleshooting, including DNS, Routing, or Subnetting

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform, Cloud formation, or Configuration as Code such as AWS SSM, Ansible, PowerShell, or Bash

  • Knowledge of the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based applications

  • Knowledge of cloud environments in support of DoD Compliance

  • Knowledge of Ubuntu, RHEL, or Windows Server

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Associate Certification, AWS Certified Developer, Associate Certification, or MS equivalent Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
