SIEM and SOAR Engineer

The Opportunity:

As a security operations center engineer, you’re in the middle of the action, responding to and mitigating threats in real time. You’re the first line of cyber defense for your organization, and they look to you for guidance on best practices and security measures. We need a Tier 2 SOC engineer like you to help us secure critical infrastructure from the constant onslaught of cyber attacks for our mission partner. 

As a SOC engineer on our team, you’ll improve monitoring strategies and analyze threats, using state-of-the-art tools like.

You’ll work with the team to understand, mitigate, and respond to threats quickly, restoring operations and limiting the impact. You’ll guide efforts to figure out just how many systems are affected and assist recovery efforts. You’ll combine threat intelligence, event data, and assessments from recent events, and identify patterns to understand attackers’ goals to stop them from succeeding. This is a great opportunity to hone your cyber security skills with hands-on experience in threat assessment and incident response.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience leading or architecting Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, including rule development, tuning, and data integration across complex DoD enterprise environments
  • Experience with multiple SIEM platforms such as Splunk ES, Elastic SIEM, QRadar, ArcSight, or Microsoft Sentinel, including the design and optimization of detection logic and alert workflows
  • Experience engineering and normalizing large-scale log ingestion pipelines, developing high-fidelity correlation rules, and producing executive-level dashboards and mission-relevant analytics
  • Experience leading incident detection and triage operations, optimizing alert fidelity, and driving SIEM-based automation to reduce false positives and improve response efficiency
  • Knowledge of enterprise-grade data sources, including Windows event logs, NetFlow, firewall, IDS/IPS, endpoint, and cloud telemetry
  • Ability to map and enrich data for advanced threat detection
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • HS diploma or GED
  • DoD 8140 baseline certification required such as Security+, CySA+, or CISSP

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience leading and advising Air Force Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) teams, providing enterprise-level guidance on detection engineering, threat hunting, and mission readiness initiatives
  • Experience developing and integrating custom automation and orchestration scripts within SIEM/SOAR platforms to optimize triage, enrichment, and response workflows
  • Experience applying the MITRE ATT&CK framework, Cyber Kill Chain analysis, and threat correlation methodologies to design proactive detection and adversary emulation strategies
  • Experience architecting and tuning enterprise SIEM solutions for optimal performance, scalability, and data lifecycle management, including indexing, parsing, and retention strategy design
  • Experience as leadership in SAFe Agile or DevSecOps environments, driving cross-functional collaboration between engineering, threat intelligence, and operations teams
  • Possession of exceptional communication and executive briefing skills, including translating complex analytics and cyber event data into mission-focused insights for senior stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred; Master’s degree a plus
  • Advanced certifications such as Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Admin, Elastic Certified Engineer, IBM QRadar Specialist, or equivalent vendor-recognized certifications

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
