Defense Mission Expert, Senior

Key Role:

Bring in-depth understanding and expertise to one or more aspects of service or joint missions, processes, and culture. Apply advanced consulting skills, extensive technical expertise, and full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction and mentor and supervise team members. Provide detailed analysis of maritime warfighting requirements, identify capability gaps, interoperability, and interactions of systems, and assess shortfalls and mitigation strategies supporting Naval Plans, Policies and Requirements development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience working in a military or government role, including Fleet warfighting

  • 10+ years of experience supporting Joint or Navy environment at Echelon III or higher headquarters staff

  • 10+ years of experience supporting Navy or Joint military exercises with development, coordination, and assessment alongside maritime service partners and stakeholders

  • 10+ years of experience developing, refining, and assessing complex military Concepts of Operation and Operations Plans

  • 10+ years of experience developing and refining strategic, operational, and tactical-level Navy and Joint guidance documents

  • Experience in PPBE, JCIDS, and doctrine development

  • Ability to evaluate threat vulnerabilities and resulting risk to mission and force across the range of military operations and to make recommendations to reduce the potential gaps and impacts to warfighting capabilities

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in developing point papers and presentations suitable for Flag-level decision making

  • Experience as O-5 Commanding Officer preferred

  • Experience as Requirements Officer at Echelon I, II, or III preferred
