Imagery Remote Sensing Scientist, Senior

Key Role:

Work as a scientist in a fast-paced research and development team on EO/IR imagery systems with image or video collection problems, including characterization and exploitation. Apply remote sensing principles and methods to analyze data and solve problems and develop new sensor systems, analytical techniques, or new applications for existing systems. Provide scientific analysis and products collected from the exploitation of EO/IR and multispectral image (MSI) data. Support informational briefings for the purpose of educating analysts and managers on the capabilities of spectral data and their potential application. Design collection experiments, including space and airborne, and compare measured results with modeled data. Write scientific codes for clutter and noise mitigation, image reconstruction, compressive sensing, tracking, detection, feature extraction and classification, stereo, machine learning, signal processing, and radiometric calculations.

Basic Qualifications:

-12+ years of experience with imagery science

-12+ years of experience with sensor systems, including airborne, space-borne, or commercial systems, operations, and phenomenology and their impact on image processing, analysis, and exploitation

-5+ years of experience with generating image simulations and 3-D scene generation

-Knowledge of COTS or GOTS image processing and computer vision software, including MATLAB

-Knowledge of remote sensing technology and collection parameters

-Knowledge of basic scientific comprehension of focal plane array technology, including quantum efficiency, cross talk, and flux density

-Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment that is not process driven, adapt to constant changes in tasking from technical government officials and senior executive, and deliver technical products with operational impact

-Ability to work independently with a small team of scientists, engineers, and operations

-Active TS/SCI clearance

-MA or MS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with OpenCV and application of autofocus techniques

-Experience with automatic target recognition, including EO, IR, and thermal

-Experience with data processing, including MATLAB imagery and video and analysis

-Experience with data characterization in terms of ground truth, including MATLAB

-Experience with field testing

-Knowledge of a sensor phenomenonology area, including OPIR, spectral, LIDAR, or thermal

-Knowledge of all imagery science areas a plus

-MS degree in Remote Sensing, Image Science, or Physics preferred; PhD degree in Remote Sensing, Image Science, or Physics a plus
