Operations Research Analyst, Junior

Key Role:

Conduct logical analyses of management problems and management information requirements and formulate mathematical models of problems for solution by computer. Prepare mathematical models of problem areas in one or several equations that relate constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters. Gather, relate, and identify data with variables in models by applying personal judgment and mathematical tests. Review the operation and testing of models to ensure adequacy or determine a need for reformulation. Prepare written non-technical reports for management that indicate a solution or range of possible alternatives in rank of desirability and probability of success. Perform work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility under general supervision.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with operations research or analysis

-Ability to support the analysis of budgetary and programmatic information, apply probability and statistical techniques to analyzing large and complex data sets, and develop and apply optimization models to DoD issues and the development of independent assessments of studies, analyses, reports, and cost estimates

-Ability to analyze model and simulation outputs to support USMC leadership decision making, development of models and simulations to support budgetary decisions and project objective memorandum (POM) development, and verification and validation of simulations, models, and tools

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with Microsoft Access and Excel

-Experience as an operations research analyst, data analyst, or data scientist in a professional or academic environment

-Experience with programming in VBA, R, Python, or MATLAB

-BA or BS Degree in Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Applied Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, or Economics

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
