Hydraulic Modeler and Engineer

Key Role:

Serve as an environmental, civil, or utilities engineer specialist and consultant conducting hydraulic modeling for initial utility baselines and during planning phases of major and complex projects. Conduct engineering reviews and provide expert-level technical advice on the planning and programming requirements for the design and construction of new utility infrastructure, existing utility repair, and alteration projects. Use commercial software to analyze data and develop and calibrate hydraulic models of wastewater collection and water distribution systems statistically and graphically. Support utility planning, evaluation, and modeling services through custom tool development, advanced data analytics, and exploration of emerging technologies. Conduct planning and evaluation work to develop and update unidirectional flushing plans for all fence lines and water utility components. Evaluate and predict resource requirements to ensure optimum compliance with environmental regulations in the execution of facilities and utilities design and projects.  

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with hydraulic and hydrologic engineering and numerical methods
  • Experience with data management for model import, model development, and calibration, and performing a wide range of analysis scenarios
  • Knowledge of environmental review concepts, principles, and practices applicable to the full range of duties concerned with the planning, design, construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of facilities normally found on military installations
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design solutions for facilities projects
  • Ability to provide expert-level environmental planning and engineering guidance on state-of-the-art designs, engineering and scientific concepts, and modern technologies
  • Ability to use hydraulic and hydrologic modeling computer software, ESRI ArcGIS, email, spreadsheets, database management, word processing, and the internet
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working on military, municipal, federal, or state design projects
  • Experience using InfoWater and InfoWater Pro, InfoSWMM, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, MIKE Urban and MIKE+ and InfoWorks ICM, SewerCAD, SewerGems, or HEC-RAS
  • Experience with Hydraulic Modeling, Water Utilities Management, and development of unidirectional flushing plans
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field preferred; Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field a plus

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
