Software Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Bring the vision of a Software Factory for autonomous development to life for the Navy. In this role, you’ll design high-value, reliable, simple, secure, and scalable software solutions to support client needs. Work closely with other engineers to prepare, lead, or participate in design reviews, provide development guidance to establish strong SDLC practices, and drive product excellence as you work cross-functionally to lead initiatives to deliver, manage, maintain, and evolve autonomous features for Unmanned Maritime Vehicles (UMVs). Define responsibilities of system components and design interfaces between systems, proactively identify risks in system designs, and help propose solutions and plan success through mitigation options. Use the latest relevant software development methods, architectural styles, and design patterns to implement improved processes and standards. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a software engineering and software architect capacity

  • 2+ years of experience in object-oriented software development for commercial products

  • 2+ years of experience developing software in complex, integrated, dynamic hardware applications, including path planning, obstacle avoidance, sensor fusion, and map building

  • Experience with cloud computing, database, and server-side architectures

  • Knowledge of software and application design and modular, open architectures

  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodology and software architecture

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with DevSecOps practices

  • Experience with modeling, including Unified Modeling Language (UML)

  • Experience with software version control

  • Experience with collaborating with other functional teams to seamlessly integrate software and hardware systems

  • Knowledge of Jenkins, GitLab pipelines, or similar continuous integration tool
