Aviation Technical Writer, Senior

Key Role:

Develop technical documentation for FAA technical manuals and orders. Coordinate the work of junior level technical writers and work in a team environment, working closely with aviation subject matter experts, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and other technical writers. Leverage proficiency in the English language and in-depth knowledge of grammar, rules of usage, and principles of composition in accordance with client’s style manual. Perform independent technical research, as required, and communicate with various sources to complete technical documents. Maintain responsibility for tracking the technical document review drafts and oversee the final production of the technical documents in accordance with the project deadlines. Attend technical document in–progress review meetings. Track project budget and deliverables in accordance with contract terms.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience writing technical documentation, procedures, and guidelines

• Experience working with federal government clients

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communication, Journalism, Technical Writing, or Technology Management

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with FAA orders, policies, or aviation related concepts 

• Experience in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

• Experience with SharePoint

• Knowledge of the use of Adobe software

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $52,100.00 to $119,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
